1942: Capitol Records was launched by Glenn Wallichs.
1986: ‘A Conspiracy of Hope’ US tour started, featuring Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed, Miles Davis, U2, Sting, Joan Baez, Jackson Browne, The Neville Brothers, Bryan Adams & many others. Organised by Jack Healey, the benefit concerts were on behalf of Amnesty International, for human rights.
1992: Iron Maiden played a gig as The Nodding Donkeys at the Oval pub, Norwich before 400 fans, as a thank you to the pub’s landlord, Chris Hiles.
1996: Crowded House announced that they had split up. (They re-formed in 2007).
1997: Death of bassist, Ronnie Lane of The Small Faces [aged 51].
2014: Death of singer / songwriter, Bernard “Doc” Neeson of The Angels [aged 67].
2020: Death of bassist / singer / songwriter, Steve Priest of Sweet [aged 72].
It was ten years ago that singer, Doc Neeson passed away. He was a true rocker right to the end. I remember seeing The Angels at The Powerstation in the mid-80s… Doc was in a wheelchair with a broken leg, but it didn’t stop him giving one hell of a performance. R.I.P. Doc!
