Born on this day in 1917, Buddy Rich was known as “the greatest drummer in the world”. His power, speed and technique on the kit was phenomenal, inspiring multitudes of percussionists and tub-thumpers ever since. Rush drummer, Neil Peart, organised tribute concerts to the great man, who died in 1987 [aged 69].
