Geoff –
Easily one of the greatest "Punk" albums! This LP and Sex Pistols ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’ are easily my two favourite “Punk” albums. The Stranglers had a brilliant songwriter (Hugh Cornwell), a keyboard player with stacks, including Hammond & Minimoog (Dave Greenfield), cool drummer (Jet Black) and mean bassist (J.J. Burnel). 'IV: Rattus Norvegicus' is packed full with infectious rock numbers, and the last track, "Down in the Sewer" stretches out to 7 ½ minutes into four separate sections! (don't know how they managed to get away with that one at the time). Best tracks are “(Get a) Grip (on Yourself)”, “Sometimes” and the awesome “Peaches”. I could play this record until the cows come home (and Johnny Rotten advertises butter).
