Geoff –
The second posthumous LP from Jimi -- and certainly one of the best! The second posthumous LP from Jimi (and certainly one of the best), this album is not really the soundtrack to the movie 'Rainbow Bridge' -- it is WAY better! Some of the strongest studio songs were almost finished before Jimi's death: "Dolly Dagger", "Room Full Of Mirrors" (with Jimi on bass and guitar). The finest playing can be heard on a lesser known track, the sensitive brilliant instrumental "Pali Gap". It is a sweet and subtle with an incredible melody. Also featured are a studio version of "Star Spangled Banner", a wild early Experience number, "Look Over Yonder", an extended magical version of "Hear My Train?" from the legendary Berkeley concerts (May 30,1970), and the lengthy "Hey Babe" -- a stunning and very moving piece to finish the album. 'Rainbow Bridge' was well received, reaching #15 and #16 in the U.S. and the UK respectively.
