All Right Now! Paul Kossoff's superb, refined guitar work, perfectly complimented Paul Rodgers' earthy, emotive vocals to make some very soulful and powerful music. Free were undoubtedly amongst the best of the blues rock bands that were active in the late '60s / early '70s. Paul Kossoff's superb, refined guitar work, perfectly complimented Paul Rodgers' earthy, emotive vocals. Combined with the super-tight rhythm section of Andy Fraser and Simon Kirke, they made some very soulful and powerful music. On their third album 'Fire And Water' Free created the ideal balance between blues and hard rock scoring a massive hit along the way with the constant favourite "All Right Now". This album has plenty more on offer -- the tasteful, slow, rootsy groove of "Mr. Big" and "Heavy Load", the pensive blues of "Oh I Wept " and "Don't Say You Love Me" and the raw grind of the title track. And it still all sounds so real and fresh that it's like Kossoff is playing his Les Paul Gibson in your living room! Rodgers' singing is very moving indeed and he is still rightly regarded as one of the greatest rock vocalists ever! When Free split in 1973, Rodgers and Kirke formed the popular rock group Bad Company. Kossoff went on to form Back Street Crawler, but sadly his drug addiction took its toll on him -- he died on 19th of March 1976. 'Fire And Water' remains as testament to the wealth of talent within the group that was Free.
