1964: The Beatles held the top five places on the US singles chart.
1968: Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Joni Mitchell, Al Kooper & Ted Nugent met up for an all night jam at The New Generation Club, New York after hearing of Martin Luther King’s assassination.
1970: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young went to No.1 on the US album chart with ‘Deja Vu’.
1997: Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals played a concert at The Powerstation, Auckland ~ I was there!
2009: Death of Murray Marbeck [aged 88].
2022: Death of guitarist Joe Messina, of The Funk Brothers [aged 93]. The group of Motown session musicians played on many classic hits by Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Martha & the Vandellas, Four Tops and more.
2024: Death of drummer / producer, Keith LeBlanc [aged 69]. Keith was best known for his work with Grandmaster Flash, Tackhead, Little Axe & Nine Inch Nails.

Sadly missed, today is the birthday of late great guitar player, Gary Moore. What tone he had, what speed! What sustain……………………………………. This isn’t the best quality footage of Gazza on YouTube ~ but it is amongst the BEST! 😉
