It was sad news to hear of Joe Cocker‘s passing, nine years ago today. A wonderful singer, so much heartfelt soul and power in that amazing voice. In 1979 I attended his concert at Regent Theatre, Dunedin… he had a great band (including Nicky Hopkins and Bobby Keys) and was pissed out of his head, but sang with great passion as he staggered around the stage. Joe was the pioneer of “air guitar” as he belted the songs, one after another. There was no bullshit with Joe, everything about him was as real as the sweat on his shirt in this moving clip of him performing “You Are So Beautiful”. R.I.P. Mr. Cocker.
