1967: Jimi Hendrix played at the Monterey Pop Festival in California. His historic show-stopping performance featured incredible renditions of “Purple Haze”, Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone”, “Hey Joe” & “Wild Thing”, which climaxed with Jimi setting fire to his Stratocaster.

1974: Peter Hoorelbeke, drummer with Rare Earth, was arrested after a concert for throwing his drum sticks into the crowd!
1976: Phil May quit The Pretty Things after being with the group for 11 years.
1991: Van Halen released their ninth album, ‘For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge’.
2020: Death of singer / songwriter, Dame Vera Lynn [aged 103].

Happy 82nd Birthday to Sir Paul McCartney! What the man has done for the music world is unprecedented and his song-writing credentials for The Beatles alone are nothing short of astonishing. Thumbs aloft for Macca!
