Great gig by The Chills last night at The Cabana, Napier! Bassist James Dickson, drummer Todd Knudson, keyboardist Oli Wilson & the main man, Martin Phillipps all played superbly. So pleased that they did favourites “Pink Frost” & “Heavenly Pop Hit” and the dance floor was heaving with the super energised rendition of “I Love My Leather Jacket”. Special mention too, for talented singer / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist, Anthonie Tonnon, who opened the show.
Was nice that they took the time to chat to the locals at the door. Martin remembered me selling him records (mostly Bowie ones), way back in the early ‘80s at The EMI Shop, Dunedin! (When we were even younger, I saw his first band The Same, when they supported The Enemy). A very fun time had by all, thanks guys ~ come back to the Bay again soon!
