Geoff –
Dire Straits at the height of their musicianship ~ ‘Love Over Gold’ is beautifully produced and highly recommended! A magnificent recording! With a new rhythm guitarist in the line-up, Mark Knopfler could really stretch out on ‘Love Over Gold’. With only five songs (including the 14-minute opener “Telegraph Road”) the long, atmospheric, instrumental passages could be almost labelled as prog rock — probably why I like it so much! This and the debut LP are my favourite Dire Straits albums, displaying what a tasteful, subtle guitarist Knopfler is. The group are at the height of their musicianship on ‘Love Over Gold’ — beautifully produced and highly recommended!
